Cardiovascular disease is a serious disease that everyone may be at risk if they do not have a healthy diet and lifestyle. Cardiovascular disease has a close relationship with diabetes and hypertension.

The Link Between Diabetes, Hypertension, and Cardiovascular Disease

Diabetes and cardiovascular disease

Diabetes is caused when the body cannot control blood sugar levels as indicated by blood glucose levels are higher, resulting in increased blood sugar levels. If this condition is prolonged, it will cause blood fat metabolism disorders, clotting disorders, atherosclerosis. Patients with diabetes are at high risk of cardiovascular diseases such as coronary heart disease, myocardial infarction, stroke. In fact, more than 75% of diabetic patients hospitalized for cardiovascular complications and coronary artery stenosis. Over 65% of diabetics die from cardiovascular disease, ischemic heart disease, myocardial infarction, heart failure. The mortality rate from cardiovascular disease in people with diabetes 2 to 4 times higher than non-diabetes. The risk of stroke was also increased by 2 to 4 times in patients with diabetes.

Diabetes and hypertension

Patients with diabetes have the amount of reduced HDL (beneficial factors) and increased glycerides, increased LDL cholesterol (harmful elements). This increases the risk of heart attack and stroke. A serious complication of diabetes is high blood pressure. The higher blood pressure is one of the causes of sudden death in people with diabetes.

Hypertension, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease

High blood sugar increases blood viscosity. High blood viscosity accompanied by the contraction of blood vessels and the formation of atherosclerotic clots can block the path of the blood. This obstructs the movement of blood in the vascular system, causing pressure on the walls of blood vessels and the heart, the cause of hypertension. High blood pressure is a major cause of cardiovascular disease. Hypertension hurt to target organs such as the brain, kidneys, eyes and especially the heart, causing them damage over time. It leads to nearly 80% of cases of heart attack and stroke. Hypertension occurs frequently can increase the heart’s workload, causing thickening of heart muscle fibers over time.

Reducing the possibility of heart contractions push the blood leads to not provide enough nutrients and oxygen to the body restricts blood flow to the heart, causing stagnation of blood in the veins. This situation will last for many years with heart failure appear.

Diseases such as ischemic heart disease, arrhythmias, or an aneurysm, aortic dissection is also prone to hypertension patients.

Those above are evidence for the close relationship between diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular diseases. So to prevent this dangerous disease, we need to have a healthy lifestyle and science, adjusting diet, regular health checks, fitness.
