We all know about the health risks smoking can cause to our body. But still, many people choose to smoke because they feel like it helps ease the stress of life. However, smoking actually put even more stress on your body. Studies have shown that nicotine works by making your heart work harder. It also suppresses your body’s oxygen supply. You are aware of it, which is why you have decided to quit smoking. It is understandable that you are afraid of the stress of life coming back when the nicotine is not there to stimulate your body. Here are a few words about manage stress that you should know before you start your battle.

First and foremost, keep in mind what you are going to face when you break free of nicotine. Know that you will have stress, your will likely to lose your temper easier, which will be very depressing. Try to be optimistic. People who believe in themselves have more chances of success. It is possible that you may not be able to do it right the first time. However, do not let it discourage you. Most smokers do not succeed at their first attempt.

The best way to deal with stress is probably giving yourself a pleasant time. Figure out what you really like and do it. Anything as simple as listening to your favorite song or walking your dog around the neighborhood can be helpful. Let off your steam and remind yourself of the reason you want to quit smoking at the first place. It will give you the motivation you need to finish what you started.

There will be a time when you feel so overwhelmed that you want to give up, that is when you need someone to turn to. Before you start to quit smoking, you should think of the people you love and trust, those who will understand and support you. When you are stressed, reach out to them. Socializing itself can relieve stress. It is advisable to ask for help as soon as you need it. Do not try to struggle alone since it will only put more stress on you.

Stress is a normal part of life. You do not have control over it, but you can learn to deal with it in a way that it will not make you fall apart. Hopefully, the advice above and prepare you the get through the tough time waiting for you when you quit smoking.
