Docusate is a stool softener. It makes bowel movements softer and easier to pass. Senna is a laxative. It stimulates muscle movement in the intestines.
Peri Colace® is used to treat occasional constipation. Peri Colace® may also be used for other purposes not listed in this medication guide.
Use this medication exactly as directed on the label, or as prescribed by your doctor. Do not use it in larger amounts or for longer than recommended.
Take this medication with a full glass of water.
It may be best to take this medication at night or at bedtime. Peri Colace® should cause you to have a bowel movement within 6 to 12 hours.
Do not take this medication for longer than 7 days in a row, unless your doctor tells you to.
Call your doctor if your constipation does not improve or if it gets worse after taking Peri Colace®.
Peri Colace® is best stored at room temperature away from direct light and moisture. To prevent drug damage, you should not store Peri Colace® in the bathroom or the freezer. There may be different brands of Peri Colace® that may have different storage needs. It is important to always check the product package for instructions on storage, or ask your pharmacist. For safety, you should keep all medicines away from children and pets.
You should not flush Peri Colace® down the toilet or pour them into a drain unless instructed to do so. It is important to properly discard this product when it is expired or no longer needed. Consult your pharmacist for more details about how to safely discard your product.

Usual Adult Dose for Constipation – Acute
2 to 4 tablets orally daily in divided doses or as a single daily dose preferably in the evening.
Usual Pediatric Dose for Constipation – Acute
2 to 6 years: up to 1 tablet daily
6 to 12 years: 1 to 2 tablets daily
Peri Colace® is available in the following dosage forms and strengths:
In case of an emergency or an overdose, call your local emergency services or go to your nearest emergency room.
If you miss a dose of Peri Colace®, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take your regular dose as scheduled. Do not take a double dose.
