Inulin is the key element in a strong digestive system. Inulin is really important to our body. But, nowadays almost all kids do not like eating vegetable and fruit, which are high in inulin. Parents should have knowledge of this nutrient to help your child get a good health.

What is inulin?

Inulin belongs to a type of fiber called fructan. Inulin is used by some plants as a way of storing energy and is often found in roots or rhizomes. Most plant synthetic and inulin stores do not store other carbohydrates like starch.

  • When injected into the body, the whole amount of inulin is taken down to the colon. Here, Inulin begins his operation:

  • In addition, Inulin also stimulates good bacteria to grow. You know in your gut, there are about 15000 to 36000 species of bacteria. Just a small number of the bacteria in your body can have a potentially bad effect and that’s harmful to you. But, good bacteria will provide many benefits for health.

Bifidobacteria and Lactobacilli are two good bacteria. Having a high number of these bacteria will be helpful for your gut. And based on inulin, it aids digestion to raise the quantity. Some beneficial effects includes:

  • Avert infection
  • Enhance your immune system

According to scientific studies, Inulin is a water-soluble natural fiber, a prebiotic food source for probiotics (useful living microorganisms in host gut), abundant in garlic, bananas, especially in chicory roots, are one of the prebiotics most nutritionists use for their baby, not digested in the stomach and intestines without the enzyme hydrolysates.

Inulin can be found naturally in foods, such as:

  • Chicory root
  • Artichokes
  • Agave
  • Asparagus
  • Bananas
  • Wheat
  • Onions
