Currently, myopia at children is increasing and accounts for a high proportion in the society. Myopia will increase with age and if not treated early, it will get worse. According to recent research, up to 60% of children have myopia. Children from 11-16 can easily get nearsighted. So how should you take care of your children?

Signs of myopia in children

After detecting these signs, parents should take your child to an eye doctor for examination. Doctors will give your child the proper kind of prescription eye medications and you should go with him to the clinic more often than once every 3 months to avoid the ever-dimmer side of it.

Causes of myopia

Myopia moves from mother to child or father to child. If the parents have serious myopia, the possibility of the child to recover is very difficult, despite treatment with drugs.

It can also be caused by external influences such as learning, working in the low-light environment. If this near-sightedness is detected early enough, it will be simple to treat. In the early stage, you may also use medicine as a cure.

How to live with nearsighted?

Misplaced posture, lack of light, or too much exposure to technological devices are the main causes. So to help prevent this disease, parents should pay attention to the following:

  • Guide children to sit properly. The distance to hold a viewer is at least 30 cm away from the eye and should be read instead of lying down.
  • Keep your child away from television or computer screen for a distance of at least 2 meters.
  • Make sure your child’s room is well lit so that they do not get dazzling or too dark to cause myopia.
  • Limit children to watch TV as well as use computers for too long is also a way to prevent childhood diseases nearsighted.
  • Children should be encouraged to rest for about 30 minutes after reading or watching television.
  • Encourage your child to spend more time outdoors.
  • Parents should also give children regular eye examinations to detect eye diseases in children and have preventive measures and treatments in proper time.
  • If the child is found to be nearsighted, parents should give children glasses under the guidance of the doctor to not worse.
