The answer but depends on what kind of stress you are talking about. Daily stress cannot harm your baby. At least, scientists believe so. You are not going to have a miscarriage just because something startles you on your way to work. However, extreme stress caused by a divorce, the death of a loved one or a severe financial problem can have a negative influence on the health of your unborn child. Research suggests that being under a high level of psychological pressure for a long period of time increases your risk of stillbirth by 80%. Other studies established a link between intense stress levels and an elevated risk of preterm labor, low birth weight, and other chronic diseases later in life.

How can you manage stress during pregnancy?

Share with someone

Do not try to keep everything to yourself. If something is bothering you, talk to your partner about it. Sharing your feelings may greatly ease your discomfort and relieve your stress.

Keep a healthy diet

Just as much as stress and affect your appetite, a poor diet can also trigger anxiety. Ask your doctor for a perfect pregnancy diet, then commit to it. Vitamins, omega-3s, and minerals are generally believed to be mood boosters. Getting enough omega-3s can reduce your risk of depression.

Stay active

Being physically active helps to manage stress. Swimming is probably the best exercise for pregnant women. It works your body without putting much pressure on your joints. If you cannot find a good pool, a 20-minute of walking works wonder. Just get out and have some fresh air. While you are at work, remember to take short breaks in between and walk around for a few minutes.

Massage

For centuries, massage has been known as one of the best methods to relieve stress. You can either go to a professional or ask your partner to give you a massage. Aromatherapy massage is even better as long as the essential oils used are safe for pregnant women.

To tell the truth, in most cases, the reason behind a miscarriage is not clear. Most the miscarriages happening within the first trimester are because of chromosomal abnormalities in the egg, to which you cannot do anything. So, stop worrying and enjoy your pregnancy. With a healthy lifestyle, you will probably be fine.
